"I might
not be a religious man myself but I know good music when I hear it, and this is very
good! . . . I dont think that I have ever given such high
ratings to so many songs before. But
the fact is that they are well deserved because the
music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they
really get to your heart. . .everytime."

Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark! how the heavenly anthems drowns
All music but his own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
Crown Him the Lord of life,
Who triumphed oer the grave,
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save;
His glories now we sing
Who died and rose on high,
Who died, eternal life to bring,
And lives, that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of peace,
Whose power a scepter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease,
And all be prayer and praise;
His reign shall know no end,
And round His pierced feet
Fair flowers of paradise extend
Their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown Him the Lord of love;
Behold His hands and side,
Those wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.
All hail, Redeemer, Hail!
For Thou hast died for me;
Thy praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity.

A lonely flute caresses the gentle
guitars. . .giving praise to the matchless King. . . .Resounding strings beckon the Lord
God most high. . .joining the heavenly song of eternity. . .A subtle piano chimes its
praises of one whose praise and glory shall not fail.
This hymn was written by two men who
never met. At 48 Matthew Bridges became a convert to Roman Catholicism and it was only
three years later that he published this praise song under the title The Song of the
Seraphs. It was a Protestant preacher, Godfrey Thring, who completed the lyrics about
thirty years later by adding several stanzas.
One of the aspects that Godfrey Thring felt was missing in the original version was a
stanza on the Resurrection, and so it was added. His
glories now we sing who died and rose on high, who died, eternal life to bring, and lives,
that death may die.
This great hymn was the inspiration for my own praise song Crowned With Glory -- which
also is available on this page. Therefore, I knew it would not be long before I made an
arrangement of it. The music setting was inspired by the very successful Christmas CD that
the Wigtunes produced in the winter of 1999. This hymn arrangement is a part of a larger
effort to produce an entire instrumental hymn album in a piano, guitar and small
orchestral setting (much like the Christmas CD).
It begins with a solitary flute accompanied by light acoustic guitars with a B3 eventually
building the first verse to a quiet climax. A solo cello follows accompanied by a dainty
piano giving the rendition Baroque flavor. On the last verse, listen for the high strings
playing a vibrant descant over the somber melody while lifting the soul in adulation of
the King who is crowned with glory.
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And he who sat on him was called
Faithful and true, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. his eyes were like a
flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew
except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dripped in blood, and His name is called the
Word of God. (Rev 19:11-13)

All glory and praise,
To the Lamb that was slain,
Who has taken our sins
And has cleansed every stain.
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Hallelujah, amen!
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Revive us again.
Revive us again
Fill each heart with Thy love:
May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Hallelujah, amen!
Hallelujah, Thine the glory!
Revive us again.

With power any authority a lonely horn
accented by soothing strings declare praises unto God over the full chorus of a deep
Hammond organ. . . a piano drives the soul filled with gratefulness in thanksgiving. . .a
solid beat lifts the spirit of man in the acclamation of Gods Glory to cry:
"Revive us again!"
The author of this favorite gospel
song was a Scottish physician, William P. Mackay. It was first published in 1875 under the
inscription O Lord, revive Thy work.
Charles Spurgeon, a great Baptist minister in England, lived preached during the turn of
the century once commented on Psalm 85: 6 that declares: Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you? With that in mind Spurgeon said, A genuine revival
without joy in the Lord is as impossible as spring without flowers or daydawn without
light.
The first three stanzas of this praise hymn carry with them great exclamations of praise
to God, followed by a final verse that calls on god to revive us again. Revival begins
with prayer and praise from a spirit of genuine gratitude from those who thank the Lord
with all their heart.
The turn of the century was a time of great spiritual warfare in the West as the deceptive
outpouring of humanistic thought began to grab the minds of many people, both Christian
and non-Christian alike. Today we are living in the aftermath of this upsurge of human
arrogance to see the Church surrounded by an atheistic culture as the people have been
weakened by their own lust for independence and wealth. Now, more than ever, we must cry
Revive us again! as we learn to praise and rejoice in God, rather than the edifices of our
own accomplishments.
It was with this in mind that I decided to record this marvelous praise hymn as a message
to America (and any other nation) during the millennial Fourth of July celebration of her
independence. Indeed, Americas freedom was clearly founded upon the Christian principles
that she has now abandoned.
It is a powerful song, so I determined to put together an instrumental arrangement that
did it justice. However, when Vanessa first heard it, she was not impressed. She is always
very kind in her comments, but I always know what she is thinking. In this case, it was
obvious that I had slipped into an old habit of over-producing a song, so I went back and
systematically began to remove parts.
The setback with Vanessa left me going into the wee hours of the night completing the
mixdown and creating the mp3 for upload while Vanessa retired for the night. The next
morning I wanted to make sure that I liked what I had done before uploading it. Vanessa
happened to come into the room at that time and I noticed her listening to the arrangement
inquisitively. My insecurity began to rise up, but I asked her what she was doing anyway.
She answered by letting me know she was just listening.
After that song ended, I looked at her with only questions in my mind. Yet her answer
surprised me. I was just listening and wondering what had happened, she revealed. I sounds
a lot different than last night and I was thinking it was just me. But I explained that I
had made many changes and she responded that it was very good now.
It has a lot less in it now, but the Hammond organ, piano, bass and drums support the
melody played by strings, horns and a flute to bring a modern dynamic to this classic
praise piece. We pray that you are lead to a revival in your heart, as you listen to the
dynamic message contained in this song.

Blessed
assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a
foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of
salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His
Spirit, washed in His blood.
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long;
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long.
Perfect
submission, perfect delight!
Visions of
rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels
descending bring from above
Echoes of
mercy, whispers of love.
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long;
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long.
Perfect
submission all is at rest,
I in my Savior
am happy and blest;
Watching and
waiting, looking above,
Filled with His
goodness, lost in His love.
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long;
This is my
story, this is my song,
Praising my
Savior all the day long.

Gently and
tenderly a flute and cello accent a classic acoustic guitar. . .whispers of love ascend to
God who gives us rest.
Fanny Crosby
wrote more than eight thousand hymns using more than two hundred pen names. She was under contract with a music publisher and
wrote three new hymns each week during much of her adult life. She was blind so she would formulate an entire
song in her mind and dictate it to a friend or secretary.
Phoebe Palmer
Knapp, wife of the founder of Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, composed the tune to
Blessed Assurance in 1873 and brought it to Fanny in Brooklyn. She immediately asked, Play it for me on the
organ. After Knapp did she asked, What
does this tune say? Fanny was kneeling
in prayer so she played it a second time and then a third.
Then the blind woman responded with enthusiasm, That says, Blessed
assurance, Jesus is mine! O what a foretaste
of glory divine!
When I composed
the instrumental arrangement to this song I wanted something a little more delicate than
the way this tune is generally played in church. During
my years at First Baptist Church in Bakersfield, Ca., the Pastor, Dr. John Lavendar loved
to accentuate with long-dramatic pauses. This
was very enjoyable and exciting!! However, I
found in the melody and lyrics a tenderness and sweetness that seems just perfect for
reflective praise. This is how this
instrumental has been put together. A
graceful flute and flowing cello accompany classic acoustic guitars reflectively with
gentleness. We pray that this arrangement
give you cheer as you praise God all the day long.
