"I might
not be a religious man myself but I know good music when I hear it, and this is very
good! . . . I dont think that I have ever given such high
ratings to so many songs before. But
the fact is that they are well deserved because the
music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they
really get to your heart. . .everytime."
Fredrik Cole: Trax In Space
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky all looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
The little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus! I ask Thee to stay,
Close by me forever, and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven, to live with Thee there.

Though this hymn is generally
considered a childrens Christmas carol, Dons instrumental arrangement
certainly appeals to everyone. The airy guitar overlaid by a wispy piano complements a
melody that is played on a melodic cello. We pray that the simplicity of this song will
lift you from the complexity of the adult world and encourage you in your praise of Christ
who was born in Bethlehem.
Though no one quite knows the author,
this Christmas praise song has been attributed to Martin Luther. It first appeared in a
Lutheran hymnal in the mid-1800s. Though it is considered a childrens Christmas
carol and is sung over-and-over by youngsters wearing halos and white sheets in
childrens Christmas programs, the simplicity of Away in a Manger appeals
to people of all ages.
When arranging the song It was my desire to capture its simplicity in a way that adults
will appreciate. For simplicitys sake I kept the song simple, suing only acoustic
guitar, piano and strings. For adults, I added some interesting chords. The first verse is
played by the lute-like guitar only, followed by the tinkles of the piano in the second
verse. A cello comes in the last verse to complete the arrangement.
In our complex world, the simplicity of children is often refreshing. We pray that this
piece will invigorate you and lift you in praise of the baby Jesus.
Silent night! Holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child!
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night! Holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight!
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia;
Christ, the Savior, is born, Christ the Savior, is born.
Silent night! Holy night!
Son of God, loves pure light!
Radiant beams from Thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

This favorite Christmas hymn was first
performed in a small church in the Austrian Alps. The organ was broken down and a song
needed to be written that could be played on guitar. Out of this necessity came
Silent Night. This moving instrumental arrangement begins with soft acoustic
guitars to capture that magic moment when the song was first performed. A light tinkling
piano breaks in with the melody bringing to life the star-lit night when our Savior was
born.
As always from this group, sample quality is top notch. Very beautiful, relaxing, and shows some excellent artistic talent. A very beautiful piano arrangement for Silent Night!
Roncli: Trax In Space
I doubt if I am alone when I say that
this is my favorite Christmas hymn of all time. Interestingly enough the writers of this
classic had to come up with it at the last moment. The organ in a small Catholic church in
the Austrian Alps was broken down just before Christmas in 1818. Joseph Mohr, the priest,
busily took on the task of coming up with some music and scratched out the words to
Silent Night. He showed them to the organist Franz Gruber who put the words to
music.
When the song was first performed it was played on guitar. I wanted to come up with an
instrumental arrangement that would bring us back to that moment when this touching song
about the birth of Christ was first performed. Naturally, therefore, I began the
arrangement with light picking acoustic guitars. Quietly and gently the piano sneaks in to
create a mood that captures the wonder of Christs birth.
Mohr and Gruber had looked for the perfect Christmas hymn for years. As soon as Gruber saw
the lyrics he declared to his pastor, You have found it -- the right song -- God be
praised! Indeed, Christmas music does not get any better than this.
