"I might
not be a religious man myself but I know good music when I hear it, and this is very
good! . . . I dont think that I have ever given such high
ratings to so many songs before. But
the fact is that they are well deserved because the
music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they
really get to your heart. . .everytime."

Come, Thou Almighty King, help us Thy
name to sing
Help us to praise:
Father all glorious, Oer all
victorious,
Come, and reign over us, Ancient of
Days.
Come, Thou Incarnate Word, Gird on Thy
mighty sword,
Our prayer attend:
Come, and thy people bless, and give
Thy word success:
Spirit of holiness, on us descend.
Come, Holy Comforter, Thy sacred
witness to bear,
In this glad hour:
Thou who almighty art, now rule in
every heart,
And neer from us depart, Spirit
of powr.
The Thee, great One in three, eternal
praises be,
Hence, evermore!
Thy Sovereign majesty may we in glory
see,
And to eternity love and adore!

All creation
waits to hear the trumpets song. The
coming King. . .will reign in glory. . .to
fill my heart. . .with joyful song.
This song is usually attributed to
Charles Wesley and first appeared anonymously in George Whitefields Hymn Book. It was probably published this way for good reason
because scholars agree that Wesley wrote this praise hymn as an imitation of the English
national anthem God save Our Gracious King.
This national anthem had just been written and was popular throughout England. Come Thou Almighty King perhaps was
Wesleys way of keeping priorities right.
The fact is, I just like playing this
hymn! Just about every time I sit down to the
piano to mess around you can be certain that this song will be played. It moves real good on the keyboard.
I have used this hymn regularly at
church during the times we gather to praise God in song.
Congregations love to sing this arrangement, so I knew I was going to include it as
an mp3 offering.
Originally I had intended to put vocals
into this arrangement, and I might yet. However,
the instrumentals sounded so good on their own I decided to release Come Thou
Almighty King as an instrumental for the Piano CD. So here it is!
I pray that you enjoy it as much as I have.

Fairest
Lord Jesus,
Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man the son,
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
Thou, my souls glory, joy and
crown.
Fair are the meadows,
Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb of spring;
Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,
Who makes the woeful heart to sing.
Fair is the sunshine,
Fairer still the moonlight,
And all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels heaven can boast.

Gently a flute introduces a melodic
classic guitar lifting praise to Jesus who is fairer than all else. . .A somber cello
accompanies the soothing rhythm of the guitars to lift the soul in adoration of Jesus who
shines brighter and purer than all the angels heaven can boast.
Though this is sometimes called the
Crusaders Hymn, it probably was never sung until several hundred years after the
Crusades. I was possibly first sung by the
followers of reformer John Hus, who lived near Prague around 1400. The Hussites had to maintain their faith in secret
after they were expelled from Bohemia to settle in Silesia.
Yet they had a strong tradition of hymn singing and the most reliable sources state
that this praise hymn came from these humble Christians.
In spite of the fact that the Hussites were persecuted, this great hymn favorite
only talks of the fact that Jesus is fairer than anything else we may adore.
This hymn arrangement was made during
a very trying time in my life during which I was ministering to my mom who was suffering
from lung cancer. Since she lived several
hundred miles away my music time had become very limited.
I didnt think that I could keep up with my one-mp3-per-day schedule that I
had purposed for myself.
However,
in contemplating how to continue writing music within this busy schedule a very simple but
beautiful arrangement of Fairest Lord Jesus came to me. Immediately I went to the keyboard and composed
and the arrangement was completed within a few hours.
This is the quickest mp3 that I have ever produced, and yet one of the most
beautiful in its simplicity. A gentle flute
introduces soothing acoustic guitars followed by the resonate cello that carried the hymn
to its conclusion.
The arrangement is beautiful, but
hardly as fair as Jesus, whom it praises. The words of this comforting song ministered to
me through a very difficult time as I was reminded that the goodness of Christ makes even
the woeful heart to sing. Those
who love God can have His hope to rejoice in during the most difficult times!

For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the Beauty of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon and stars of light:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the joy of ear and eye,
For the heart and minds delight,
For the mystic harmony
Lining sense to sound and sight:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth and friends above;
For all gentle thoughts and mild:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For Thy church, that evermore
Lifteth holy hands above;
offering up on every shore
Her pure sacrifice of love:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For Thyself, best Gift Divine!
For our race so freely given;
For that great, great love of Thine,
Peace on earth, and joy in heaven:
Lord of all, to Thee we raise:
This our hymn of grateful praise.

The search for the nature of the universe begins with
praise. Glistening melodies call to the
worlds Designer. . . searching for perfect peace in creations majesty. .
.finding solace in the hands of the Lord of
all.
Since Roman times the town of Bath, on
the banks of the Avon River in England, has been considered one of the most beautiful
spots in the British Isles. It is enclosed by
an amphitheater of hills and blessed with warm springs that has made it both a pleasure
resort and a health spa for the sick.
Though Folliot Pierpoint was born in
Bath, he went away to attend Cambridge University where he eventually became a classical
scholar and taught. It was when he was
twenty-nine that he returned home where he was overwhelmed by the beauty of the
countryside. It was this experience that
inspired this favorite praise hymn.
According to Romans 1 there are two choices that one can make
after he has laid his eyes on the beauty of the earth.
He can worship the Creator or he can worship the creation. God has made Himself so evident in His creation
that those who reject Him are left with no excuses. The
creation speaks of God to such a degree that the Middle Age Christian philosopher, St.
Thomas Aquinas, declared that it proves Gods existence. Nothing but God the great Designer could have
created a universe that is so filled with design. Where
there is design, there is a Designer.
The world is not chaotic but, in contrast, well ordered. Yet those who choose to walk away from the truth
proclaim that everything came about by mere chance. They
have developed the theory of evolution as their excuse to reject God. They have chosen to worship the creation and have
given themselves over to every imaginable sin just as the Apostle Paul predicted in the
book of Romans nearly 2000 years ago.
On the contrary, Christians have chosen to worship the Creator
who is to forever be praised. They see the
wonder of His works and fall down to their knees to humbly acknowledge God who made the
and chose them from the foundation of the world. This
is the great truth that For the Beauty of the Earth proclaims. That is why I love the song!
Since I have pursued a study of worship, I have become
more-and-more enamored with God as He displays Himself in the things He has made. In my younger days I use to go to my favorite spot
in the Sierra Nevada to worship the mountains. Now
I go to enjoy God.
I have learned to recognize God even in the hustle and bustle of
city life. On the way home from work, even
though in the midst of heavy traffic, I will become suddenly aware of the great spectacle
that God has placed in the sky in yet another glorious sunset. Time-and-time again I will be distracted from the
guy cutting me off to find myself worshipping God who made everything.
This manifestation of Gods glory has become so important
to me that I was overcome with desire to create an arrangement of this great hymn that
calls on believers to worship their Creator. I
had played it for years in church, and so I had an idea how it was going to be arranged. Yet I was amazed how quickly the parts went down. In fact, the entire cut went from idea to mp3 in
just a couple of days.
As it turned out, it turned out to be one of my favorite hymn
arrangements. It begins with a kicking piano
part with a French horn playing the melody line over it.
A cool theme after the first stanza leads to the second verse where the strings
sneak in. Eventually the rhythm section
(drums and bass) kicks in to create a nice grove underneath. Play the piece as you are enveloped in one of the
wonders that God puts before your eyes. We
are convinced that you will be moved to rapturous praise!
