Look to the Book of Revelation for the lyrics of this song. (Rev 15:3b-4)
This exuberant song of praise erupts in heaven just before the angels of the Lord are
about to deliver the seven bowls of wrath to the ungodly. These are some of the most
devastating judgments that will ever befall upon the earth. Why would there be so much
jubilation in the face of devastating carnage? The answer lies in the fact that this
judgment is the prelude to the defeat of the ungodly Babylonian regime which has lead the
world away from God since the Tower of Babel was first built and Nimrod lead men to
worship idols rather than the Lord. (Gen 10:8-12; Gen 11)
One day all that is evil will be purged from our lives for eternity. That is cause to
rejoice and we will be singing the Song of Moses depicted here forever and ever.
This is a concept that is hard to do musical justice to. No doubt the song that we shall
sing in heaven will make the music that I have written here seem pale in comparison.
However, Vanessa, along with Selah, certainly have done justice to the praise song that I
have written to these remarkable perpetual exclamations of praise. The beat is solid
enough to support the powerful harmonies and driving piano solo.
Great and Marvelous is an excerpt from the musical that depicts much of the Book of
Revelation The Last Judgment. This musical was written to dramatize the two types of
worships that exist today: the worship of God and the worship of all that is ungodly.
Those who refuse to worship God His way will pay a terrible price. Those who worship God
His way will be amply rewarded as the Book of Revelation demonstrates.
Great and Marvelous is definitely an upbeat portion of this musical. It should be! This
praise chorus is an exclamation of praise and thanksgiving to God for what He has done
that will resound forever. We genuinely expect that you will be lifted up by this exciting
piece of music.
