"I might
not be a religious man myself but I know good music when I hear it, and this is very
good! . . . I dont think that I have ever given such high
ratings to so many songs before. But
the fact is that they are well deserved because the
music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they
really get to your heart. . .everytime."

Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Make known His wonderful deeds among all the people.
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Sing to Him, sing praise unto Him,
Tell ye of all His wondrous works.
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Make known His wonderful deeds among all the people.
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Sing to Him, sing praise unto Him,
Tell ye of all His wondrous works.
Glory, Glory ye in His holy Name,
Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord.
Seek the Lord, seek the Lord and His strength,
Let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord forever.
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Make known His wonderful deeds among all the people.
Give thanks unto the Lord, call upon His Name,
Sing to Him, sing praise unto Him,
Tell ye of all His wondrous works.
Remember, remember the marvelous works.
That He has done, and His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth;
For He is Lord, He is the Lord our God.
Tell ye of all His wondrous works.
Tell ye of all His wondrous works.

This song came to me during the years I was serving as music minister at
Calvary Chapel, Bakersfield. This period of time during the first half of the 80s
marked the beginning of two decades of Bible and historical study that in which I
endeavored to come to an understanding of worship. Recently Wigtune Company has released
the results of this intense research for free on-line at
http://www.praisesong.net/wigtune.htm.
During my stay at Calvary Chapel, where my studies were just at their infancy, I became
intrigued with the story of the lost Ark of the Covenant. This beautiful piece of
furniture represented the presence of God among His people and rested in the Holy of
Holies in the Jewish Tabernacle. It was a prize possession of the Israelites but was lost
during a battle with the Philistines when they put the Ark ahead of the troops. They
erroneously believed that it was the Ark rather than God who would defend them. (I Sam 4)
It was King David who later returned the Ark to its original place. He was filled with so
much joy when the Ark was being brought back into Jerusalem that he tore his clothes off
and danced in the street with joy. (I Chron 15) The psalm beginning at I Chron 16:8 are
the words that the great king wrote in his praise to God during this wondrous event.
The Philistines willingly released the Ark to the Israelites because Gods presence
in their midst only brought curses upon them. (I Sam 5) God is ever present with the
believer and unbeliever today. For the unbeliever, His constant manifestation is not only
inconvenient and irritating but something to be rebelled against and discarded. Yet it is
a joyous thing for the believer to dwell in Gods presence! While the unbeliever
curses God, the Believer praises Him and declares His mighty works throughout the world.
It is the exhilaration of this praise that I tried to capture in this song.
This praise song was never was sung at Calvary Chapel for no other reason than the fact
that I never got to it. However, it has always stuck out in my mind as one of my
favorites. In mid-1998 I began to compose the instrumental arrangement for it, but
computer problems and time limitations stopped the project cold. It was only recently that
I picked it up again and completed it. Vanessa was so pleased with the instrumental
arrangement that I decided to release it just as it is. I pray that it will encourage your
ecstatic praise to God who is ever-present with us every day!
