"I might
not be a religious man myself but I know good music when I hear it, and this is very
good! . . . I dont think that I have ever given such high
ratings to so many songs before. But
the fact is that they are well deserved because the
music is amazing. Simply wonderful religious ballads and they
really get to your heart. . .everytime."
Fredrik Cole: Trax In Space
Bless the Lord, O my soul bless the Lord.
And let all that is within me bless His holy Name
Bless the Lord O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits, bless the Lord.
I lift my praise to you, Lord, lift my praise.
I lift my praise to you, Lord, lift my praise.
And let all that is within me bless His holy Name
Bless the Lord O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits, bless the Lord.
I lift my life to you, Lord, lift my praise.
I lift my life to you, Lord, lift my praise.
And let all that is within me bless His holy Name
Bless the Lord O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits, bless the Lord.
Bless the Lord, O my soul bless the Lord.
Bless the Lord, O my soul bless the Lord.

This is one of those songs that just came to me with ease. I was already captivated by the
text of Psalm 103. As I read it from the piano the music just sprang out of the keyboard.
. .and Bless the Lord was born.
I was a music pastor at Calvary Chapel Bakersfield at the time, so I immediately shared it
with the congregation the next Sunday morning. The church immediately went ape over it and
praised God with complete enthusiasm. Later, during a pastors conference at Calvary Chapel
Costa Mesa I shared it with Tommy Coombs who, in turn included it on a tape for
distribution to various churches. Since that time, I have been confronted by person after
person who was new to town, yet knew the praise song because it was sung in their church.
It is not uncommon for people to tell me that it is their favorite praise chorus of all
time. The evangelists/pastor Dr. John Lavendar utilized it as the centerpiece of his
teaching on praise. Many have demanded that it be sung in their funerals. . .and it has.
Because of the overwhelming popularity of the song, I have used it in every public
ministry setting that Ive been involved in with great success. Miitch was in the Calvary
Chapel Praise Singers during my years there and always sang the lead. Therefore, when we
formed Selah it was only natural for him to keep the honors.
Bless the Lord did not make it on the first album I produced (Calvary Chapel/Maranatha
Music: Let All Who Hath Breath Praise the Lord). So when Selah began compiling the
material for the CD Stop and Think About It it was an obvious choice.
The tracs were laid down as easily and as quickly as the song was written. We brought in
jazz guitarist Paul Cierely to the studio (Fat Tracs) and he gave us some most excellent
fills. Mitch has always sung the song most excellently and his performance on recording
day was no exception. Max Reese, who engineered Tom Pettys first gold album was at the
helm and the mix went as easy as pie. The cut turned out to easily be the best on the CD.
If you want a proven praise chorus to use, try this one.
Wigtune Company was formed as a service to the body of Christ. Our vision is to encourage scriptural worship in the Church by offering free praise music and hymns performed in a contemporary manner along with a free on-line worship study book for personal devotions, Bible study groups, Sunday schools, pastors, music ministers and ministry training.
